This is a lovely little reminder that a linen closet needn't be complicated and over stocked. A few little baskets to allow easy access for essentials, a couple covered containers to hide a few others, and basic cleaning supplies. I'm so done with excess. I'm craving simple - and my linen closet, the house for all my organizing and cleaning tools, is just the place to start.
Locking myself in my bedroom yesterday, with nothing but my cleaning bucket, proved to be highly successful. I managed to spring clean the whole space.
Linens were laundered, furniture was polished, windows were cleaned, walls were washed and drawers were organized. It felt good.
Today I have one project on my list of chores - the linen closet.
I have a fairly organized linen closet ... fairly. Though I would be lying if I said I didn't have a struggle or two with attempting to put my vacuum away, or finding my good napkins. I also have a billion cleaning products. I don't know why. I definitely need to condense and organize. So, that's what I will be up to today.
My theory is that in order to efficiently spring clean my whole house, I should start with the room (or in this case, closet), that houses all of supplies that will make the cleaning easier.
Wish me luck.
I wouldn't mind cleaning that Linen closet! Mine yes I would mind, always something to do never caught up.Best of luck~Cheers Kim
ReplyDeleteRoom by room is the best way to go {I love it...locking yourself in it!}. We have way too much of everything, but I like to be stocked up so I spread everything out in two closets...linens for one and medicines. hair dryers, etc. for another. Now if they could stay clean for 5 minutes!

what perfection in a linen closet. i love that enamelware bucket in the corner. like you, my vacuum is always in the way. but such a necessary-in-the-way thingy.
ReplyDeleteRoom by room is a good way to go... or closet by closet :) It's amazing that once you get everything organized it is soooo much easier it keep it that way!

Oh if I had a linen closet THAT size! :) I think I would find myself opening it up every couple hours to see how nice and organized everything looked. lol!

I don't know if it's spring or what, but I have been in the mood to clean! Especially to rid of needless things. The thrift shops are probably tired of me donating! ;-)

I would so love to have any closet that looked that wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI would love a linen closet like that! For the first time, I do not even have a linen closet. My "linen closet" is three under-our-queen sized-bed covered storage boxes from IKEA. I really had to thin our linens! My streamlined cleaning supplies are under the kitchen sink.

Wow I think I could do great things with a linen closet like yours! Beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteI hate cleaning but it's just something we need to do. Once you get started though it's not so bad. It's just the starting that is hard.
ReplyDeleteVery nice!! I love organization. :) I just need to do my closets now ;)
ReplyDeleteI love the way the linen closet turned out and what a great idea.
