Raindrops on Roses

[Country Living]

The only sound that I can hear, aside from the tinkling of my keyboard while writing this post, is the soft trickling of rain outside my living room window. Our house is damp and slightly cool because today I am insisting on hearing the rain.

My son is quietly sleeping upstairs and I've put an old swing record on and am tending to my kitchen. So far I've spent the better part of the day cleaning at a slow, leisurely pace.

All the while, the birds are happily chirping outside my window, bouncing around in the rain and bathing in the puddles.

Slow. Dark. Quiet.
It's just that kind of day today.

Happy Monday girls. I hope you all had the loveliest of long weekends.

  5. I love listening to the rain as well-especially from a cozy inside window and when the rain storm is over-it leaves behind a gorgeous green world. Thank you for your lovely blog-it is inspiring.

  6. My day was very similar to your, sans the rain (it's gray and chilly) and child! LOL! It's been a leisurely day at home cleaning up after the Easter holiday.

  7. It's that kind of day here too! I love sitting out in my sunroom doing nothing at all and enjoying the sound of the rain.

  8. Love the photo and I usually love rain, but we are set to break a record from way back in 1921 for most rain in April in this neck of the woods and that is not good for the farmers. We may get over 7 inches total this month alone. Thankful we had beautiful weather Saturday and Easter Sunday though. :)
