Sun Room Makeover - Before Photos

Okay, so here are a couple before photos of our sun room. I will be posting the layout photos of the room, so you can get the whole visual, in a week, when I'm ready to clear everything out. For now, here is just a preview. The above photo is the wall colour, and floor tile. It's an older photo, but neither will be changing with the makeover.

This was the sun room when we purchased the house. Ugh - I hated this colour. It's so dark. It defeats the purpose of a sun room, which should be bright and airy and full of light. Also, it really brought out the burnt orange and browns in the floor tile, which drove me nuts. Painting it cream really neutralized them and blended them in, which meant saving money on having to re-tile.

As you can see, it's not a huge room. It's 8" x 11". There's a great view of the back yard, lots of windows, and on the left side, it's a double french door that goes out to our back deck.

So, 1 more week to finalize some sketches and create my design. Then, it's makeover time!

But right now, I'm off to make a fresh batch of blueberry muffins for coffee with my cousin (she's bringing be kids, which means a play date for Willen and a brand new baby for me to enjoy!)

  1. It may not be huge, but it would be a dream for me. So bright and with good 'bones'. It will make a lovely sunroom.
We have a builder home with a small front entry (no side entry either.) I have two young teens in 4-H with piles of boots, coats and hoodies. No matter how hard I try, our small entry always needs tidying. It would be a dream to have this space to turn into a mudroom. Lucky you! Hey, maybe it wouldn't affect the value of our home by turning the living room into a mudroom! hehe

  2. Wowwwwwwwwwwwwww....that look so nice !!! happy Ria....

  3. Hi Maria!

Your sun room has great must be a lot of fun to be planning a redo! I agree that lighter colors look better and your cream shade makes the floor look nice. I am looking forward to seeing your plans, it's going to be sensational!

  4. I am real curious as to what you do with your room as I too have a very dark spanish mediterranean sun colored room with saltillo floor, looks alot like your before. I still cannot decide to go cream or white........I have pictures of mine posted on my blog too. My sunroom has to be office/sunroom it is 19 by 24 but has alot of purposes. I eagerly await your reveal!!

  5. Oh...I had so much fun looking at your beautiful photos. Your sunroom is looking fantastic I can't wait to see more pictures when it is completed.
    Have a wonderful day!

  6. Your sun room is okay, but it looks more of a living room than a sun room. For a perfect sun room, you must paint your walls with bright and sunny colors. You can also add curtains for a breezier effect.

Thanks for leaving your comments! I always love reading them. - Maria
