Spring Wedding Flowers

I love arranging flowers. 

I especially love it when those flowers are fragrant Peonies and Garden Roses.

I spent Friday morning in the old cottage behind the store, surrounded by buckets full of blooms, cleaning roses for arrangements, enjoying a chocolate pecan scone and tying the bride's bouquet.

Here is her finished bouquet. 

The stems were left long and it was tied with long, trailing blush ribbon.

It also had bits of Wax Flower tucked in it, a couple white Hydrangeas, as well as some antique blush Spray Roses and Eucalyptus greens.

The Peonies were a favourite variety of mine that I used to grow - Duchesse de Nemours. They are very fragrant, white double blooms.

The bouquet smelled heavenly.

My mom tied her bridesmaid's bouquets which were mostly Hydrangeas with a few roses tucked in them to match the bride's.

She also did these gorgeous centerpieces. They are Hydrangeas, Mums, Ranunculus, Roses and Lisianthus in footed mercury glass bowls.

I find it to be a relaxing escape for a few hours.

Bremfield's: The Tour

Now that we have the first week under our belt, I feel like I finally have time to give you a tour of Bremfield's.

Welcome to the store.

Bremfield's is a combination of a floral market, cafe and bakery with some beautiful antiques tucked throughout the store.

The idea was to create a beautiful, inviting place to come in and sit down with a coffee and something sweet. To meet a friend for a simple, home-style lunch and browse lovely vintage finds. To take a cappuccino out to the cafe sets on the sidewalk and watch the boats go through the canal. To take home a pie made with local fruit, and while you're at it, a hand-tied bouquet for your table and a hanging basket for your front porch.

And this is exactly what you'll find when you walk through the door. 

And of course, the owners - my mom and dad.

An Update on Bremfield's

I'm so excited to share with you a bit of a sneak peak into how Bremfield's is coming along.

You can follow along with the who adventure here.

It's looking so beautiful. Most of the painting is finished, the gorgeous brick walls have been sealed, they've moved in their antique display cabinets and this week painted the ceiling white and installed lighting. The next, and greatest project is the installation of my mom's kitchen. This is where she will bake all of her delectables for in the cafe part of the store. It will be quite a job, but they are so excited. After that it's the fun part - setting up the merchandise and filling the store with product.

She spent the weekend doing her first wedding in the actual store. Every other wedding has been done in their basement.

You can see here all of the doors and trim are now white. It makes it so bright and clean. Also, you can see the beautiful antique display cabinets they found while picking in an old barn. They are absolutely gorgeous. Each is slightly different, but all are charming with the antique glass and metal legs. The one below that has the detailed wooden base is being prepped to be the cash counter. There was no glass and they loved the old, wavy, greenish glass of the others so much that they didn't want to replace them with new glass. And since you don't want to see the storage behind this counter, they will paint it and have found textured wallpaper to give it some character.

The front entrance is nearly finished. They added beadboard and just need to touch up all of the trim. I'm happy they opted to stick with white. It's bright and reminds you of a European greenhouse with it's large windows.

And finally, because they were too beautiful not to show, here are a couple photos of the wedding flowers. The bride wanted simple bouquets of white hydrangeas with a bit of bling.

The table arrangements are simple vases with cut white hydrangeas and some crystal beads draped on the outside.

This is the small bouquet for the flower girl.

The bride's bouquet with a few cream spray roses and some tiny jewels added.

And the arrangement for the signing table. Everything was simple, yet timeless.

I'm looking forward to showing you what it looks like once they are finally open for business.

I hope you're all having a restful Sunday. We're so thankful for a quiet day today as a family, with gorgeous weather and nothing to do but relax after a busy, but amazing, weekend.

Both weddings were so beautiful and turned out so perfectly, but there will be photos coming later on them so I won't get into any details!

I just quickly wanted to share some of the most gorgeous flowers that are making my house smell beautiful.

They are left overs from my sister's wedding - White Peonies, which graced the tables and filled her bouquet, and Antique Cream Garden Roses which were for our bouquets (the bridesmaids), and filled old rusty sap buckets around the barn. The Hydrangeas were placed in sap buckets as well (above), and were part of the front of the church for the ceremony, and were also around the head table later.

The cut flowers are so fragrant and brighten every room in my house!
